SUMMARY:Bridging Shocks and Shifts: How People Navigate Disasters\, Infrast
 ructure Disruptions\, and Energy Futures
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Maggie Leon-Corwin\, Postdoctoral Researcher at the In
stitute for Public Policy Research and Analysis\, University of Oklahoma\n
\n\n\nThis talk explores how people navigate disasters\, infrastructure di
sruptions\, and energy futures at the intersection of society and environm
ent. Drawing on three interconnected projects\, León-Corwin demonstrates
how centering community voices and fostering collaboration can promote equ
itable pathways forward. Lived experiences from Texans who endured Winter
Storm Uri show how households adapted amidst cascading crises. Partnership
s with Oklahoma utilities highlight how technical tools and cross-sector c
ollaboration can turn climate uncertainty into actionable strategies. Co-d
esign rooted in shared values offers a new approach to siting energy facil
ities\, strengthening both legitimacy and trust. Together\, these cases il
luminate hopeful\, interdisciplinary approaches to building durable resili
ence in the face of complex\, compounding environmental risks.
