DESCRIPTION:Speaker:  Kim Warner\, Senior Scientist\, Oceana\n\n\n\nHow do
  we protect and restore our oceans? This talk will explore the campaign ap
 proach Oceana\, an ocean conservation organization\, uses to achieve scien
 ce-based policy victories. Warner will touch briefly on her work and what 
 it took to achieve favorable policy outcomes in both the mercury contamina
 ted and mislabeled seafood campaigns but focus more on her current work on
  plastic pollution\, including the full lifecycle of plastic and its harmf
 ul effects. Warner will also touch on the distinctions of doing science fo
 r advocacy and what training helped prepare her.
