Why Waste a Good Opportunity? Interdisciplinary Approaches to Sustainable Resource Recovery and Carbon Capture

Speaker:  Kevin Orner, Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering, West Virginia University

The UN Sustainable Development Goals highlight global challenges related to water, food, energy, and climate that require collaboration across disciplines and across cultures. As an environmental engineer, Orner works across many fields, such as public health, anthropology, and policy to address these global challenges. In this talk, Orner will share lessons learned, from an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin to a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama to a faculty member at West Virginia University, for how interdisciplinary and globally competent engineers can work across boundaries to address global challenges.
