Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) has the potential to support more resilient agricultural systems and is an excellent source of fiber, food and feed. Realizing this potential requires integrating genetic and environmental research with policy and regulatory frameworks that shape how hemp is conserved, developed, and produced. This presentation will highlight research on hemp genetic diversity, environmental adaptation, and agronomic performance, while examining how stakeholder priorities and science-based policy can support a resilient and responsible hemp bioeconomy.
