Improving Agricultural Water Use Sustainability with Cutting-Edge Technologies

Speaker:  Yi Wang, Assistant Professor of Horticulture, UW-Madison

Water is a crucial input for agricultural production and plays an important role in global food security. In Wisconsin, concerns over water quantity and water quality have put pressure on agriculture, particularly the intensive and specialized potato and vegetable industries that rely most heavily on water access. The innovative Variable Rate Irrigation systems and use of hyperspectral remote sensing and machine learning provide us with new tools to increase agricultural sustainability while having minimal environmental impact.
