Planetary health threats, including climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, increasingly shape local health inequities. Drawing on public health nursing experience, this lecture examines how global environmental change becomes visible in communities and why recognizing these threats does not necessarily lead to action. It explores structural barriers within public health systems, the role of nurses and community partners in advancing environmental justice, and emerging research on building capacity for collaborative, upstream action on the conditions shaping health.
