Before that, she completed a degree in anthropology at the university and has been involved in organizing community programs.

In 2020 Laurel was honored with the NASA Unsung Hero award for her work, over the past four years, planning and supporting Tracey Holloway’s semi-annual NASA HAQAST national meetings for over 100 attendees at out-of-state venues.

Laurel has been selected by the University of Wisconsin-Madison as this 2020’s winner of the Elizabeth S. Pringle Award over 60 submitted nominations of other university staff who hold office support titles. Laurel was recognized for the service she provides not only to the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment, but also as a shining example of the exemplary work performed by university staff, because she typifies the crucial role staff play in making the overall campus mission a success.
