Dr. Monica Harkey is an assistant researcher working with Professor Tracey Holloway. She uses model, satellite, and observational data to investigate relationships among meteorological variables and chemical components of our atmosphere. With an interest in the ways we adjust our activities to the atmosphere and vice versa, she also uses models to explore “what if” scenarios with changing sector (i.e. transportation, energy) emissions.

Monica received a bachelor’s degree in physics and geography from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, followed by a master’s and PhD in atmospheric and oceanic sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her graduate studies had her head in the clouds: with satellite remote sensing of cloud properties and the modeling of cloud-chemistry interactions.
